What ages do you teach?
Lessons are designed for children 18 months through 6 years old. Instruction is tailored to each child’s developmental stage, comfort level, and swimming experience.
How long are the lessons?
Lesson length varies depending on the age and experience of the swimmer.
• 30 minutes for younger swimmers
• Up to 45 minutes for older or more experienced swimmers
Shorter lessons help younger children stay engaged and successful in the water.
How often should my child have lessons?
For the best progress, I typically recommend two lessons per week. Consistent practice helps young swimmers build skills, confidence, and comfort in the water more quickly.
Scheduling can always be customized to fit your family’s needs.
What skills will my child learn?
Lessons focus first on water safety and confidence, followed by foundational swimming skills. These may include:
• Comfort and confidence in the water
• Breath control
• Floating and body position
• Kicking and basic propulsion
• Safe entry and exit from the pool
Every lesson is individualized to meet each swimmer exactly where they are.
What should my child HAVE For lessons?
Swimmers should bring:
• A properly fitting swimsuit
• A towel
• Goggles (optional)
• A swim diaper if needed for younger swimmers
What if my child is nervous about the water?
Many children begin lessons feeling unsure or cautious in the water. Lessons are designed to be patient, supportive, and confidence-building, allowing swimmers to build comfort and skills gradually.
Do parents get in the water during lessons?
For swimmers 18 months to about 3 years old, I typically ask a parent or caregiver to join us in the water. Parent participation helps young swimmers feel safe and supported while they learn new skills.
As children grow more comfortable and independent, lessons transition to more direct instructor-led instruction.
What if we don’t have a pool?
No problem. Families are welcome to schedule lessons at my private pool, or lessons can be arranged at your home pool if you have one available.
Are you certified?
Yes. I hold CPR certification and have completed formal Water Safety Instructor training through a nationally recognized program, allowing me to provide structured, safety-focused swim instruction.
What happens if it rains or there is bad weather?
Living in Florida means weather can change quickly. Light rain usually does not affect lessons, but thunderstorms or lightning will require rescheduling for safety.
If weather interrupts a lesson, we will work together to reschedule at the next available time.
How do I schedule lessons?
To inquire about availability or schedule lessons, please use the contact form on the website. I’m happy to help you find the best lesson package and schedule for your swimmer.
What is your cancellation or make-up policy?
I understand that schedules can change, especially with young children. If you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible.
Lessons canceled with 24 hours’ notice can be rescheduled based on availability. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice may not be eligible for a make-up lesson.
If a lesson needs to be canceled due to severe weather or lightning, we will work together to reschedule the lesson at the next available time.
My goal is always to be flexible while also maintaining a consistent schedule for all families.
What if my child is sick?
To help keep everyone healthy, please do not bring your child to lessons if they are experiencing symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or other contagious illness.
If your child is not feeling well, please let me know as soon as possible and we can work together to reschedule the lesson when they are feeling better. Children learn best when they are comfortable and healthy, so it’s always better to wait until they are ready to enjoy the water.
Are swim diapers required for younger swimmers?
Yes. For swimmers who are not fully potty trained, a swim diaper is required during lessons. A reusable swim diaper or a disposable swim diaper designed specifically for swimming both work well.
This helps maintain a clean and safe swimming environment for all swimmers.
