meet the instructor
Hi, I’m Heather — the owner and instructor behind Axolotl Aquatics. I am a dedicated private swim instructor committed to helping children feel safe, strong, and confident in the water.
Swimming has always been an important part of my life. I grew up an avid swimmer and spent many years swimming competitively, where I developed a deep respect for the water and the skills it takes to move through it with confidence.
Teaching is also at the heart of what I do. In my professional life, I am a college professor, so helping people learn and grow is something I do every day. My love for teaching young swimmers began when my own son first learned to swim. Watching him gain confidence in the water showed me how powerful thoughtful instruction and encouragement can be for children.
Through patient, individualized instruction, I focus on water safety first, followed by technique, endurance, and confidence-building skills. Every swimmer learns differently, which is why I tailor each lesson to meet your child exactly where they are.
I hold CPR certification and have completed formal Water Safety Instructor training through a nationally recognized program. Both in and out of the water I bring professional teaching experience and a lifelong love of swimming to every lesson.
My goal is simple: to help children build confidence, safety skills, and a lifelong comfort in the water. In fact, the inspiration for Axolotl Aquatics comes from the remarkable axolotl, a resilient aquatic creature native to Mexico that symbolizes growth and adaptability in the water. So let’s get your little swimmers growing—one confident splash at a time!
